internet lives

So I was catching up on my podcasts and I was listening to the Divacast (who are awesome by the way highly recommend that you listen to them) and in the last episode I listened to, the ladies were discussing “secret Internet lives.” One of the divas is a marriage counsellor and also runs another podcast and they were discussing a call in from that show. The caller and her husband had been married for a little over a year and the age difference between them was ten years – he was 43 and she was 33.  Anyways, one day, she was snooping on his computer and checked the history for his Internet and saw that he had gone to these sites and posted on forums as to whether certain sexual attractions to the women that he had seen on these websites was normal.  The caller didn’t say what the photos were of specifically although she said that they were not porno and were not homosexual.  And she was upset by it and didn’t know what to do about it. So the divas discussed internet lives and the call in. It was one of my most favorite shows by them and it got me to thinking about myself.

I spend a lot of time on the Internet. That isn’t a surprise to my husband or to most people. I have two blogs – this one and the one where I review books and movies and CD’s. I play a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online RolePlaying Game – that would be World of Warcraft), I’ve takend to dabbling in Second Life, I have a Twitter account, a Myspace account and a Facebook account.  So yes, some would say that I have a very rich online, Internet life (or a really pathetic real life, take your pick).  I have made friends online that I’ve never met.  I’ve often wondered if my husband thinks that I cheat on him online (I don’t).  It would be an interesting conversation to have, I must admit.

On another note, tomorrow is national civil rights day and it’s fitting that it’s held the same week that we are inaugerating Barrack Obama as our President.  We’ve made progress but are nowhere close to where we should be perhaps. In celebration, we’re taking a ski trip to Loon Mountain. I should say that I’m taking the trip and Nate is chilling with Izzy. And it’s snowing today which means that the snow will be rocking tomorrow.
